Schengen Visa

Post by nikitasha8 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 1:12 pm

I am planning to apply for Schengen Visa for me and my husband from UK. I am on Tier 1 and my husband is on a Dependent Visa. We are planning for 14 days tour to Europe with a Travel Agency.

1) How many months statement I need to provide to show I have enough Funds?

2) How much balance I need to show if I am travelling with my husband for 14 days?

3) Can I use both of our (my & my husband's) bank statement to show the total balance? Or because he is on my dependence visa I will have to show all balance in my account?

4) What is the correct Schengen Visas fees as my tour operator is charging £135 pp if they apply on our behalf.

My travel agent will charge me a fee for consultation so I would really like some advise from here.

Sorry for the following question back to you, but do you mean that you are "applying for the visa from the UK" or that "your husband is from the UK"?

This will greatly change the answer you need!

What country are you entering or visiting? That will decide which embassy you should approach.

Most embassies have publicly available information, which will answer all your questions.

A travel agent would by entitled to charge you an admin fee if applying on your behalf. Raw cost of visa would be around £50 (it's set in Euros so will vary and there may be a service fee on top separate to the travel agent.).

Like the tour... I wish I could go like this.

As your first country of enterance is France and I see you will be france for few days so you need to apply for schengen visa through them. its usually £50.40-£51 but free for people who come under various categories.

you need to give your bank statements and insurance and photocopies of your UK residency etc.

Thanks for the reply

Would I need to show bank statment only in my name or can I show Mine (£1000) and my husband's statement (£1000). We are both applying together.

Also my husband has got a worldwide Travel Insurance from his bank which includes partner as well. Can I use that as a Travel Insurance or would I have to buy another separately.

i belive you need to send separate documents for you and your partner like your and his/her pay slip. same goes with the insurance.

are you a resident here as I read in other cases you need to apply from your home country?

whats the immigration status of both of you as you might not need the visa?

If you are applying as a family, then the sufficient funds should cover both or you. If the travel insurance covers the minimum amount specified, then fine.

For France, why don't you start your search for specific information here.

Hi Nikita,

I guess its a long term visa and consider as a type of residence in the UK.

Better to email french embassy to double check for your eligibility to apply for schengen visaTc

Hi Nikita,

Where to apply: You need to check where is your maximum stay. As per your itinerary its in France So you should go for French Embassy.

Embassy Fees: you can check with Embassy there are certain cases which are free.

As you both are applying individually so separate documents of bank statements and insurance coverage are required.

Embassy fees are fixed but the service charges of travel agents may vary so you need to check.
