Post by saima999 » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:05 pm

Hi, I got my indefinite leave in nov2011 on spouse visa . I am been told by someone that I do not need to wait for 1 yearto apply for neutralisation as I have spent more then 6 years in Uk (i came to Uk in 2003 on student got married in 2009 in Uk ) is it true I can apply for neutralisation? Also if yesdo I have to show again all proof of address as I did for indefinite leave?
Thanks

It would not matter if you had spent 20 years in the UK, to apply for citizenship you need to have held ILR for 12 months prior to submitting. You are therefore eligible in Nov 2012.

Unless your spouse is British, in which case the 12 month ILR requirement is waived and you could apply now.
