I am here as Tier 2 can I switch to dependant on Teir one?

Post by Megekiwi » Fri Apr 20, 2012 5:55 pm

Hi, my partner of two years (can prove that as cohabitation) has a tier one visa and I am sponsored as tier 2. I like the idea of the freedom of a tier one dependent but am getting very confused about if i can switch onto that on her visa, and if i can if that would be from my original country (NZ) or here in the UK.
Any light on the subject welcome!

Hi,

You can switch to tier 1 dependent but you need to switch it from the home country as switching in UK is discontinued if i am not wrong

I think you are correct on that, but not totally sure.

You can not switch in country. 100% sure. You will have to go back and apply for switching.

Switching refers to in country applications only and is not possible as others have mentioned.

See paragraph 319C h ) of the immigration rules.
