Well, let's start with you. Can you elaborate on how you qualify as an academic visitor when you will be studying for a degree?

Academic visitor
You must be:

on sabbatical leave from an overseas academic institution, and wanting to use your leave to carry out research in the UK (for example, to do research for a book); or
an academic (including a doctor) taking part in formal exchange arrangements with UK counterparts; or
an eminent senior doctor or dentist coming to take part in research, teaching or clinical practice

Otherwise, if you are eligible for this category, information about your child and schooling can be found here:

Do you even know if you are eligible to bring your child? I ask only because you seem unsure on some issues and the title of your thread refers to Bachelor degree. Tier 4 dependant entry is limited to situations where PBS migrants (you) are sponsored by a higher education institution on a course at NQF level 7 or above which lasts 12 months or more. Is your college a HEI (as defined in the rules) and will your course be at post-grad or masters level?

If you are in Germany with residence visas (are not just visiting) you may apply for there rather than Australia.
