Need advice - Job offer while being pregnant??

Post by Ninja » Fri Apr 27, 2012 5:18 am

Hi,

I have few queries that someone of you may clarify for me.

I was offered a job in Feb by a UK company and I still didn't get the official offer letter as yet. they said that they have to do a RLM test before applying for sponsorship and I might get the letters and COS by next week or so.

But my problem is that I just got to know that I'm 5 weeks pregnant. BUt I still want to accept this offer. If I inform them about this before they send the official offer letter would they withdraw the offer? If I wait till they send the letter and accept it and later inform my situation what would the consequences be? Will this be a issue for applying T2 or when entering UK? What kind of maternity benefits are there in the UK (leave, etc)?

Curretnly I'm not in the UK and I've never been to, and I'm worried whether to take this opprtunity or not.

Any thought of you may help me to make a decision. Thanks.

Type "pregnancy+job offer" into Google and you will find plenty of (conflicting) opinions whether or not to declare pregnancy at the interview and job offer stage.

This is not an immigration issue. Pregnancy has no bearing on your visa application and once you have entry clearance it is not an impediment to being admitted to the UK. However, check the rules of airlines re. travel.

I hope that the every comment would applicable to any new immigrant as well. If so, I hope that I should wait until I get the job offer in hand and accept it.

Thanks for you comments.
