HSMP extension under tier1 - UK experience querry

Post by priya_bhosale » Sun Aug 03, 2008 10:45 pm

Hello,

I am an extension applicant and i dont know if anyone is having this confusion:

My earnings are both from the UK and India (altogether £21,000) and I am claiming 20 points for those.

My masters degree is from the UK.

Now my question is:

Whether I would be able to claim 5 points for UK experience based on my UK degree alone or,

Do I have to earn at least £16,000 from the UK to claim the 5 points in spite of my masters degree being from the UK.

In simpler words, will I still be able to claim 5 points for UK experience based on my UK degree (earned in 2005) even if my UK earnings are under £16,000?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Priya

If you are claiming points for education using the Masters degree in UK, then that is sufficient to claim the points under prev UK Experience.

When making an extension application, you cannot claim points for UK experience on basis of your UK qualification(s). Qualifications earned in UK can be used to gain 5 points, but for initial applications only. For an extension application, you can claim UK experience points only on basis of your income.

Please read table 3 and paragraphs 24-25 in Immigration rules: Appendix A

Thank you sushdmehta.

Yes that is what I had understood after reading the guidelines. Just wanted to check if anyone had different ideas about it. Although I just cannot understand the logic when they award 5 points for UK experience based on your UK education only if you are an initial applicant.

An experience is always an experience. It shouldnt matter if its an initial or extension application. There is no connection there!

But thanks once again

The ansewr is No you must at least proof that minimum of £16,000 is earned in the U.K any no specific document is needed for this apart from the proof of earning you've submitted..

HSMP ext - EC got in May 2009

Post by furqan » Fri Apr 27, 2012 10:06 am

Hello , I hope you are ok!

I am currently on my HSMP which i need to renew in 1-2 months time. I got my EC in may 2009. When i came here i got 30 points for my BSC which is equalent to 16 years of education. Now i did my master degree from uk university in the Networking as i am network professional in 0ct 2011 my qualification became to MS.

1:- I am wondering how many points will i get now for my education in my extension. Will it increase from 30 for Bsc in my intial application to 35 for Master which i did in oct 2011?

2:- Will i get uk experience points which is 5 as my earning are more then 20K in GBP?

Will i get (Education Master)35 + (UK Experience) 5 =40 points OR (BS(Hons) in intial application) 30 + (UK Experience) 5 =35.

Many Thanks in advance.

Regards
Sheikh
