ILR success at Solihull 27-04-2012

Post by selva » Fri Apr 27, 2012 2:45 pm

Thank you for you all at this forum for the supports and I would like to share my PEO experience here.

Background

WP- 21 May 2007 to 18 May 2012

worked for 3 companies (2 Technical changes)

application made for myself and wife

Appointment at 9.30 am
arrived at 8.40
after normal security check token number was given - 8.45 am
number get called at 8.55 am.

Interview
Case worker asked passports and Set(o) form, then she told that she need to do some checking and asked us to be clam. She checked the passport and visa (I had few visa stickers cancelled due to a mistake in my name ) and she asked that how many companies I worked, I explained to her that I joined company A then company B acquired company A and our Business Unit from company B transferred to company C (Company B&C did the technical changes).

then she asked employment letters, last 3 months payslips, bank statements and LIUK. I did give employment letters from company C, a support letter from B, 3 month bank statements, 3 months payslips and LIUK.

she then asked cohabitation docs (I had a lot)
I gave all of them, she had a look and only took
1) Council tax bills (same address)
2) Medical cover (for both)
3) Vote registration from council

Then she told that she is approving our ILR :-) and asked us to pay

after payment, we had biometric done and told to come and collect the original docs and approval letter in 2 hours

Everything finished by 9.30 am.

We went out and come back at 11.20 am and collected the approval letter and original docs.

I was aware of IT issue at Solihull and it was at the back of my mind all the time even after case worker confirmed that "it is approved".

Very nice experience and I do hope and wish good luck for those of you affected by IT issue will get the approval letter very soon.

Solihull seems to be much much better experience.

NOTE 1. I had all the original WP and Technical changes but case worker did not bother to ask (they should have it on their system)

NOTE 2. I did start working from April 2007 as my work permit get approved on April but I only got the visa stamped on 21-May 2007 (I was a student at that time and but employed as full time). All my employment letters says start date as April 2007, I did try to get the employment letter with start date as 21-May 2007 but my company said that should not be a problem and if any issue then they would take care of it.

"NO QUESTIONS ASKED ABOUT IT"

I am happy to answer any questions

Thank you
Selva

Congrats selva. I had exactly the same experience as you on 24th April at Solihull PEO.

My case worker told me that ‘your application has been approved’ and I should pay the fee.

After paying the fee, we got (wife & 2 kids) our biometrics enrolled successfully and then we were told to return with in couple of hours to collect our documents. (Our passports had already been returned by the case worker).

And when we went back to collect the documents, we were given everything back but they said due to an IT ISSUE, they can’t issue the letter and it will be sent by post.

Still nothing has turned up in the post

Congrats and good luck for the future. You consider yourself lucky to get everything sorted on the same day so looks like they have sorted the IT issue and it's our bad luck that took us to them on the wrong day.

Please keep the forum updated when you get the Biometric card.

I had only 62 days out of the uk and no business trips. No questions asked about this (as expected - less than 180 days)

Guys, I got the ILR Approval Letter for myself and 3 dependants in post this morning. It was posted yesterday (27th Apr) :D.

It says the BRPs will be sent in 7-10 days in a separate letter.

Hopefully people who were affected by IT ISSUES at Solihull on 24th April 2012 should get their confirmation letters today.

Please keep us updated as it will help other applicants who are waiting for their letters.

Hi Selva - firstly congratulations on getting your ILTR. I had a quick question regarding question 6.1 on form set O - "When did you first enter the UK? This refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is based."

Given that you started work back in April 2007 and only got the entry clearance on 21 May 2007, what date did you enter for question 6.1?

Thanks!

it is 21 May 2007 . there was no confusion about this as HO will only take the 5 continuous years from this date. I had a student visa until 21 may 2007 but was working full time from April to 21 may 2007 so I was little concerned about this period.

Thanks for the response. I am in sort of a similar situation where I entered the UK on 5 June 07 (on a visit visa) while my entry clearance was effective from 15 June 07. Based on what you said, should I enter 15 June 07 for question 6.1?

Many thanks

On WP with the same employer. Granted entry clearance on 15 June 07 but entered the UK on 5 June 07 (as I also had a valid visit visa at the time). The immigration official stamped my passport and work permit at point of entry so 5 June 07.

My concern; I've heard that the 5 year period begins only if you enter the UK on the entry clearance visa which I evidently didn't. Will this create a problem?

Granted entry clearance on 15 June 07? is it based on WP if so how did you travel ?
when did you start working?

if your WP visa was stamped with date on 15 June 07 and you are already in the UK then your start date will be 15 June 07.

By granted I meant my entry clearance start date was 15 June 07. However, I wanted to get to the UK earlier to settle down/sort out accommodation so travelled on 5 June 07 (I had a valid visit visa). My work permit was stamped (at UK immigration on my arrival) with the date on 5 June 07.

Did you have to provide photocopies of the evidence letters addressed to you together with the original?
