ILR requirement (180 or 450 days)

Post by rizwan567 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 3:04 pm

If I can remember the the residence requirement for ILR used to be that in five years of residency on work permit/HSMP/Tier 1 General. Applicant can stay upto 450 days outside the UK and can still get the ILR. However very recently in set(o) form (which is used to apply for ILR) I have noticed this has gone down to as little as 180 days. (which is 6 months or less in 5 years)

The reason I am posting this message is to check from you guys if this is correct. And If this is correct, how come UKBA can change it overnight and apply changes retrospectively.

I can not remember where from I picked this figure of 450 days OR I am wrong, the figure was always 180 days (30 days per year).

Awaiting feedback from you guys to clarify doubts.

450 is the threshold for naturalization. You were looking at the wrong details.

Thanks 'Luca' for your reply. Couple of more questions:

When was approximately this requirement of (180 days) first introduced?

And how many days you could be outside UK when ILR was on 4 year basis? was it the same 180 days or it used to be less.
