HUSBAND'S Visa!!!! plz help, am so worried!!!

Post by nailauk » Wed Nov 22, 2006 10:20 pm

Hi,
need some help, am abit confused!! i am a british citizen and got married in pakistan on march 2005. i was at uni at that time and applied for my husband's visa in april 2005. it got rejected due to the fact that i was a student and couldn't support him.
i did not appeal against the decision and have just applied again now on 1st november 2006. i am working full time and have sent them all the supporting forms outlined below:

6 months wage slips showing tax and NI contributions
6 months bank statements (got about £2000)
passport copies
phone cards
wedding photos
marriage certificate
letter from employer
letter from solicitor about my house and land registry
sponsership form which solictior signed

i have also been to pakistan 3 times since i have been married to him and visited him. i ring him constantly everyday and have sent phone cards. i am worried that he may not get the visa due to an accomodation problem. you see, i borrowed money off two relatives to buy a house myself and bought the house in january 2005. i have evidence of the money they lent me and have also sent a copy of the two cheques they gave me and the solicitor wrote a letter outlining everything. i am worried they may reject the visa because of this!!!! can that happen?? plz help!! am so worried!!

Especially with the solicitor's letter I really cannot see there being a problem with that arrangement.

Loans being repaid? Are you behind with the repayments? If not, I can't see that there is anything to worry about.

But another aspect of the accommodation matter .... any evidence of the size of the place? Showing it is not overcrowded? I think you do need to include something to show that it will not be overcrowded if the visa is granted and your husband moves in.

Hey nailauk,

Your supporting documents seem quite sufficient, did your husband get the papers checked from pakistan?

I am in a bit of a dilema, i sent my husbands paperwork to him a few weeks ago and he got them checked from an immigration advisor there who asked him for the following things:

* P2 (tax form)
* Benefits Letter
*Certified copy of landlord passport
*Certified Land registry
*Certified landlord letter

The last three things on this list were due to the fact that i only had two things supporting my accomodation: A letter from the Local authority confirming that the space is habitable and a letter from my landlord confirming that i will be staying there once my husband joins me.

The Pakistan immigration advisor said that the landlord letter was not official enough therefore it needs to be attested before a solicitor?

My question is that if i got this letter through a letting agency will it then be "official" enough?

You did not previously mention the letter from the Local Authority. That will be quite sufficient to cover the accommodation point mentioned by me yesterday.

But I am still confused. You bought a house, but why the reference to a letting agent? Are you actually living in the house you bought? Does the Local Authority letter cover the property in which you are actually living now? Or going to live in with your husband?

hi nailauk,

I am not an expert but let me tell you what documents i had submitted to get my dependents visa, may be this will be helpful

1. A letter from the sponsor (you) stating your intentions to live with your husband in UK
2. A letter from your husband, stating his intentions to live with you in UK
3. A certified copy of your passport (biodata page, all the pages showing the pakistan visit stamp to prove that you have visited your husband, also the stamp of date when you had got married). Also the page where your husbands name is endorsed as your spouse.
4. Your's and your husbands birth certificates
5. Photos and wedding invites
6. Bank statement for the last 6 months (both yours and your husband bank accounts)
7. A letter from your employer confirming you salary, designation and your contract period etc, also any other documents like offer letter etc
8. Accommodation papers (if not original, pls certify them.... in the embassy they told me to do that)
9. Any utility bills you have

Hope this is helpful

The letter from your landlord doesn't need to be attested at all.....I think the solicitors in pak are obsessed with asking for everything to be attested. My husband had his application accepted and our landlord letter wasn't attested.

Hope that helps.

thanks for your replies, its made me less worried about it now. i hope he does get the visa. i didn't send a letter from myslef stating anything about our relationship. i should have done that but didn't realise. they won't hold that against me will they?

i hope he gets his visa because i am actually getting my house decorated and moving my furniture in. i don't want to go through the whole appeal process. i can't do that!! it takes too long!

yes he did get them checked froma immigration advisor in pakistan and he was quite happy with the papers. he said that he didnt have any problems with the papers at all and that we should get the visa. i hope he is right!

if you are renting a property out only your landlord can sign your papers and say that he is happy for you to live in the property. i don't understand what the solicitor is supposed to rwrite and why is he supposed to attest it.
