Sponsoring Sister (18+) as HSMP Dependant

Post by IntelliGuy_2005 » Thu Nov 23, 2006 4:22 pm

Dear All,

I appreciate if you could please provide me information and possibility of succeeding under the following situation:

Situation:

My parents have died last year and I have only one sister and wanted to know if it is possible for me to sponsor my sister as HSMP Dependant who is more than 18 years old and is:

- Facing the most exceptional compassionate circumstances after the death of my parents last year

- Is completely financially dependant on me

- Do not have any other relatives in the home country that she can turn for any financial support

Additional Info: I am currently working under HSMP since 2004 and holds a permanent full time job i.e. Salary is > 60K and have been regularly transferring funds to her via bank transfers since last 3 years to support her

Any pointers or information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Intelliguy

It is next to impossible for an HSMP visa holder to bring a relative other than a spouse or children to the UK as dependents. You could still try however. If your sister has the necessary prerequisites and is interested in studying in the UK, it may be better for her to apply to a UK university and if she's accepted then she could apply for a student visa. That way she would be furthering her qualifications thus improving her chances of being able to immigrate on her own in the future and she would be able to live with you while she studies.
