Need passport back before probable application completion

Hi,

I received my confirmation letter but not my biometric letter yet.
I need to travel by the end of June and I'm worried my extension for Tier 1 (General) will not be completed by then.

I phoned the contact centre and they gave me a fax number for the Sheffield office. They said I could request my application to be pushed through a bit faster but that they cannot guarantee it and that they will not do it for recreational travel only.

What reasons will they consider for pushing through such a request?
Has anyone succeeded in getting this done?

What reasons will they consider for pushing through such a request?

What is your actual reason for travelling as that is what matters in your situation. Otherwise it sounds like you are looking for suggestions to make up some excuse.

they may consider it if there is a medical emergency or extreme compassionate family circumstances (i.e. very sick relative abroad), but not for a holiday.

If you request your passport back in order to travel your application will be deemed to be witdrawn
