BRP validity time?

Post by leeloy88 » Wed May 02, 2012 5:04 pm

Hi, I found that generally your first BRP under tier 2 will be valid for 3 years. How long would be be after your first extension? Would be be another 3 years or would it be shorter or longer than 3 years?

Really appreciate if anyone know the answer to this.

245GE or 245HE, depending on which category you are under.

Thanks a lot. So it means that, under tier 2 general, the maximum number o years you can stay in the UK is 6 years (first tier 2 of 3 years then one extension of another 3 years) and after that, I you're not eligible to apply for ILR or FLR then you will be kicked out of the country?

Also what is the logic of using the bench mark of 6 April 2011? Did the rules change significantly then?

This really worries me. As I will get my tier 2 renewed in 2013. According to this rule, in 2016 after my extension of 3 years (and due to the crazy numbers of business trips abroad ILR isn't so likely) I will not be able to extend my tier 2 anymore? (unless the rules in 2016 use the benchmark date of 6 April 2014 or something).
