EEA unmarried partner visa- telephone number, HELP PLEASE!

Post by lannalondon1 » Thu May 10, 2012 10:48 am

Hi all,

I have applied for a residence card as an unmarried partner of a qualified European citizen 3 months ago. I have been living in the UK for the past 4 years, first as a student than on PSW and now applying for EEA unmarried partner visa. It has been 3 months since I've applied and I had only received confirmation 7 weeks ago. I am aware that I will have the wait for another 3 months before being able to complain, but I have a family emergency and I am even considering withdrawing an application as I am having enough of not being able to travel or contact the Home Office.
I read on forums that many people managed to talk to a representative and get some sort of information at least- does anyone know what phone number should I call to be able t talk to a person rather than a telephone machine? The number that I have used unsuccessfully is 08450105200. Please help!

Thanks

I think you go on 1 and click on 2 when it asks again. You will need to wait about 15mins before some picks up but they usually do.

Asking for the passport back will not affect your application so no need to withdraw it. Just ask for the passport back.

I suggest you email first and follow with a call the following day.

The 0151 number is the same number as the 0845 (just cheaper when calling from a mobile). I think you need to choose option 1, 2 (or 2, 1) to speak to someone.

See how to contact them by email - How can you get your passport back from the UK Border Agency if you need to travel?.

Jambo- my PSW visa expired in the mean time, if I travel than I suppose I wouldn't be able to get back to the UK and send them my passport back .....or I am getting this wrong?

Are you a visa national?

The main issue is boarding a flight. If you manage to get to the border, the CoA letter would be good enough to enter the country.

If you are a non-visa national, you can easily get to the UK. However, if you are a visa national, you won't be able to board the flight. In that case, you will need to apply for a EEA Family Permit from abroad.

In same cases, a request for the return of the passport after 3 months resulted in issuing a RC so you might get lucky and get the passport with the RC.

Thanks a lot!

I managed to get through to them but they wouldn't give out any information. I forgot to send stamped envelop for my documents to be returned and have asked them for the address where to send it to- they gave me a case ID number and said to write it on the cover letter which I should provide with an envelope .
If I have a case ID number does that mean that someone is working on my case already or case ID is given immediately upon receiving the application?
