To be fair to the home office they issue the RC on a4 for the convenience of the applicant

say your passport is expired or you need to travel ASAP, publishing them ona plastic RC card might be too expensive

Would help if we paid for it but by the rules I think they have to do it for free

I am need to request for my passport back soonest and I am really hoping I am lucky enough to get my RC with the visa and hence make getting a visa to turkey easier/shorter.

How long does it take generally to get passport back from the HO?

Mine is 6 business days and still waiting. I tried calling again today and after being on hold for an hour (again) I gave up.

Is your passport going to be sent using special delivery? I should give 3 weeks for mine to be sent then.

That's correct. The problem is though, that it's not even been sent from the UKBA ; there's where the issue lies. Even if being sent by 2nd class mail, you should still receive it a few days later.

Hmmmm, did you request it using email and also by phone? But I think you should get it by this week. When do you need it?

Requested by e-mail over the weekend, then followed it up with a phone call on Tuesday as they were closed Monday for the bank holiday. Was promised over the phone, that I would have it by Monday May 14 (which made it 5 business days).

I need it yesterday (figure of speech). I was hoping to get back to see my Grandmother before she passed away, but unfortunately on Sunday she passed. I'm hoping my passport will arrive tomorrow so I can book flights as the funeral will be next week.

I think you will get it abt 6 weeks after your application was sent. But maybe sooner who knows! Best is to ring them to find out.

Still having no luck on the phone, so have e-mailed. No response yet. This is getting really frustrating and at this stage it looks like I won't even get back in time for the funeral now. Not very happy!

Don't give up on the phone just yet. Keep calling them till you get a reply because ukba is very good at saying you called the wrong department.

Unfortunately I work for a living, currently working on a very intense project and constantly in meetings. It's not really something I have time for :(

UKBA wins again.

yeah i know that. Others however have gotten theirs after 2 months!!! therefore it is possible.

Secondly when i emailed last week, they reply said they were going to forward my request to team dealing with it.

Finally I need to request my passport back sometimes next week so i have nothing to lose.

I hope you don't find this crude, but mate... you signed up for a six months process here. It's good that others get to have theirs very early on and quickly but doesn't mean that everyone would. It is possible indeed, but not something we should be forcing and agressive about. There's more people who applied earlier, whose applications are taking much longer but are not quacking.

Most december applicants are still waiting and no matter how much noise you make it wont speed up your process. Ive been waiting since December
