What you have is just an acknowledgement letter -that you should have ideally received in a week or a month's time. 7 months is very unusual. when you applied, did you send your application by registered post?

.. Immigration department is so lazy almost 7 months gone and now they have backlog.
i know ppl waiting for last 4 or 5 years for an answer . they should reply for a refusal so they can go to another country for Immigration as Ireland is not the only place of the world.
i am so frustrated i spend my 6 years here paying tax and still waiting for this as i have to move forward . UK / Norway / Australia / Newzeland / others they are so quick in this regards .. i dont understand what they cant investigate within 6 months and required another 6 month for a simple application . this prove how the internal system is processing which is a big question mark ... as performance of this government ..

We knew Ireland is not the only country in the world just like you like to pull trigger often in the case of L & O those days, well just to tell you, since you don't have any reasons to refuse the applicant for the legitimate rights than to waste their time, they themselves are prepare to wait aswell, so continue to delay, they'll see your end as we saw the end of your predecessors in power.

The point in the letter as you can see is ("YOU WILL RECEIVE A LETTER INFORMING YOU THE MINISTER'S DECISION OF APPLICATION ")
OK so what kind of Ministry who can not made a decision in 1 , 4 or 5 years where the government changes during that time...
These applicants should have some right to know the decision (YES / NO ) within a time so they can move on as per there decision if they want ...

Good Luck to all .

What i presume is that, as soon as they receive your application, i think immediately the committee will place the year on it or place it somewhere whereby they have a specific time to pick it up, except the inspectorate went there to oversee what they're doing then you will get luck to be tip for six month approval, but if they don't like you or your face, the minister and you has long time to meet each other at the ceremony, so push when the stipulated time reach folks. :)

I got the same letter OP. My application has been in since August 2011, so 9 months.
I am no longer posting publicly on this website - PM me if needed.

it's been 1 year since i applied. Each time you contact them, they give you a canned response as below:

Your application is currently being processed with a view to establishing
whether it meets the statutory conditions for the granting of
naturalisation and will be submitted to the Minister for decision as
expeditiously as possible.

The granting of Irish citizenship through naturalisation is a privilege and
an honour which confers certain rights and entitlements not only within the
State but also at European Union level and it important that appropriate
procedures are in place to preserve the integrity of the process.

The above response was given in Jan, 2012, then in March, 2012 and now in May 2012.

You guess:-))) 6 months timeframe was showing green grass in the dessert:-(((((

Guys, I rececived same letter this morning. I am applicant of Sep 11. It is exactly same letter without a punctuation difference. For me it seems common letter for everyone waiting for decision more than 6-9 months. However, it is hard to believe that still applications are at initial processing after 8-9 months. Don't know how much backlog they have accumulated, whom they are processing. but announcing 4000 per ceremony  .
Now, atleast i can relax without aniticipation for few more months!

I think we really need to investigate those figure, because it seem anecdotal now to be honest because 4000 citizen per stake is not a small figure not to be felt around you and i.
