Timeline for cases when biometric needs to be provided again

Hi All,

I had given my biometric on 13th April with 2 dependants (spouse and my baby - 4 months old).

I recieved a letter today, dated 17th May, that my baby's biometric was not successfull and I need to provide it again.

Can anyone with similar experience share that once I have enrolled my baby for the biometric will it take again the same time (4-5 weeks) for processing or will it be sooner?

Hi I have had the similar case where UKBA sent a letter that I haven't enrolled my biometric though I completed all the process and had enrolment recipts.
When I called in UKBA to ask they suggested to provide biometric again so I gave about 3 weeks ago, still not heard anything yet. I gave my first biometric on 29 March its almost 2 months now.

I gave my biometrics at Old St Post Office on 29 March 2012. On 1 May 2012, I received (in the same envelope) a letter stating that I hadn't provided my biometrics and a second letter telling me to ignore the other letter if I had already done my biometrics.

I wrote to UKBA and provided proof that I had enrolled my biometrics. A week later I was thanked for giving my biometrics on 29 March but I was told they were not on record and I needed to do them again. I had to pay for them to be done again at the Post Office last week. I see that a few people on this forum submitted their biometrics on 29 March have been told to redo them. I'm assuming there must have been a technical glitch that day.

I called the UKBA helpline and was told to send a fax to my caseworker explaining that I did my biometrics on 29 March, providing proof, and asking that they consider my case along with the other people that did their biometrics around this date. The UKBA helpline said that UKBA should do something as the technical error wasn't my fault. I sent the fax but have still heard nothing.

I suggest that everyone who submitted their biometrics on 29 March sends a similar fax to UKBA outlining what happened. Perhaps they will do something if there are lots of us in the same boat.

Sorry mate..... But isn't this a big joke of UKBA. Why can't they accept that its their own error and they should sort out cases like yours as priority.

Hi,

I had similar situation like all yours, I had to do biometrics 2nd time for my son and it took 6 weeks from 2nd biometrics date. Hope this helps.

My suggestion would be sending letter or contacting via telephone prolongs the time bit more. I haven't got any useful information via phone. Hence, do the biometrics at the earliest to avoid further delay from your end.

My timelines...

1. Date of posting application & method: 19/01/2012
2. Date application fee was debited, if known: 22/01/2012
3. Date when Acknowledgment letter with UKBA reference number received: Not received
4. Biometrics at postoffice : 12/03/2012
5. Biometrics again (as the photo captured was improper) : 6/04/2012
6. BRP via DX couriers : 18/05/2012
7. Passport and docs : 21/05/2012

Generally, it seems UKBA is taking 6 weeks after biometrics to decide on the application and in my case it took exactly 4 months to get the VISA approval.

I have got the most unusual case yet of all other cases....

On 22/05 I got 3 BRPs out of 4, only one not received was my little infant 3 months old.

Today I got approval letters and documents back for all 4 of us including infant who's BRP we are waiting.

Today at 12:30, I got an email from UKBA after chasing them everyday:

"Thank you. Unfortunately there is an issue with the data quality of your daughter’s enrolment image which is preventing successful production of the BRP. You will need to dress your daughter in a darker colour, and if she is sat on your knee to have her image taken, ensure that you are wearing a darker coloured shirt. If you have the old enrolment letter, you should use this to re-enrol. If not, we will send out a new letter. Once your daughter has re-enrolled, please let us know so that we can request card production."

I straight away ran home from work in hot sun with increased heartbeat, took my wife, dressed and fed baby and went to Manchester post office to submit again.

Emailed them back at 14:30 that I have re-submitted again.

1 hour later (fastest response every from UKBA), I got this email back:

"Thank you. We can confirm that the biometrics have been enrolled. You should receive the BRP within the next 3 -5 days."

And to add more icing to the cake, we have our flights book for next Saturday and holding breath !!!!

Can you please tell the email I'd on which you mailed them. The first we gave our biometric it wasn't perfect but post office guys said it should be ok as he is an infant. But it seems it wasn't ok as per UkBa guidelines so although we have given the biometric again for our son. This time too the picture wasn't quite right as he kept moving but the post office says we don't have an option but to send that picture to ukba. I'm worried if it can get rejected again !! Not sure why ukba is being so fussy about an infants pic.

Yes of course I had to pay again....Didn't you had to pay ? Fingers crossed now anything could happen...I have my flights booked for next saturday...its a game of cat and mouse now....

My case is highly unusual compare to others mentioned as I already have received approval letter for all 4 of us including my infant whose BRP is still on hold and also received other 3 BRPs. Even I never got any letter but after chasing them for last 4 days, finally I came to know that I have to submit again. Does this mean we have to keep trying 5 or 6 times paying £20 per visit until its successful ??

I hope it doesnt take 6 more weeks as our cases are already approved luckily....

As mentioned above, I did my first set of biometrics on 29 March (PO confirmed they were successful) and on 1 May UKBA said they had no record of my biometrics at all. I did my biometrics again on 14 May (and had to pay again of course).

Surely I don't have to wait another 6 weeks from 14 May! My flights are in less than a week!

How did you find out that biometrics were not succesfull, what was the way of contact? did you recieve any letter?

You'll have to wait at least 4 weeks from 14th May as my case is different. My decision has already been taken and now its a matter of simply printing BRP after photograph. Unfortunately in most cases as in your case, case worker has simply opened your file, noticed biometrics missing or incorrect and close the file again without any processing, so it goes back to point 0, hence the counter starts again.

In any case, I still hope I get my BRP next week as I have to fly on 2nd too. I mailed appointment exceptions. All other point of contacts are useless even BRP delivery email too.

Today I have finally received the last remaining BRP after submitting it again on Thursday !

Throughout, I have been in touch with appointmentexceptions@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk who sorted all my issues very quickly !
