My contract period reduced by the umbrella company

Post by Jk2007 » Wed Dec 06, 2006 3:46 am

I got a contract from a client for 6 months, got it to sent it to my umbrella company. The umbrella company reduced the period of contract to the date of my HSMP visa. When I told them that HSMP holders are eligible to get even permanent employment, they do not listen. I told them to keep the contract for 6 months, and if necessary they could add a condition that the contract is subject to Visa extension. They do not listen.

My umbrella company is also not providing the required documents, and causing huge headache. Anyone faced similar situation..?

So why are you using an umbrella company and subjecting yourself to such treatment. You are on HSMP, which allows you to setup your own company!!! Dont let these umbrella companies mess with you, when you have the power of HSMP.

It takes just a couple of days to setup a company in Companies House and register with Inland Revenue. There are agents who setup a company for you for £30. Find an accountant to take care of your payroll and dividend processing. You can finish all of these within one week.

I started with them when I came to UK. I didn't want to change them now, when I am applying for extension. After the Agency sent the contract to them, they altered the dates of contract, reducing the period of contract. They are also not issuing the documents properly, saying that if necessary, Home Office could verify with them.

Really a bad experience with this company.

Try No Longer Limited as an umbrella, I use them and I'm actually a qualified accountant too, I feel the dividend route is sailing too close to the wind when we are lets face it disguised employees. NLL is a limted partnership.

I won't give the url cos it reeks of spamming but if ur in IT u can find it! I've no connection other than a satisfied customer. they even pay weekly even if ur agency only pays them monthly.
