Understanding Tier 2 Switching Visa Timeline

Post by gdss » Tue May 29, 2012 2:31 pm

All,

Background:
I am in UK for the last 4 years under a Tier 2 sponsored visa (general). I am now switching jobs and my potential new employer has applied to for license to become a sponsor. They are hoping to get a COS in the next 2 weeks and then I will make my application.

Once that is done, I will be applying to switch my tier 2 for my new employer within the UK. I am little confused regarding the timeline. I understand that if I use the premium service when you apply in person, the process from start to finish takes 1-2 week. I know this is more expensive but my new employer has offered to pick up the cost. But when looking at the "In-country Tier 2 application timelines" in this forum, it seems like the process is 4-14 weeks!

I am quite confused!

Any help would be appreciated to ensure that I understand the process post getting the COS

For postal applications.

Thanks

Do you know the timing for non-postal applications?
