baby born outside uk

Post by accablues » Mon Apr 16, 2012 12:32 pm

dear all,

I am a british national via ILR route. I am currently working in one of the middle east country and my wife is in Pak. She is currently not living with me because of visa restrictions by the govt here on pakistani nationals.

We are expecting to have baby sometime during month of August this year. I need to know what documents do I have to provide for baby british passport

and

are there any difference in rights for british born and non-british born baby but with british passport/nationality.

thanks in advance for all your help and replies

Assuming the child is born in Pakistan see How to apply from Pakistan. There is a leaflet on the web page which describes what is required for first passport for a child.

Your child will be British by decent. See more details - Chapter 20: British citizenship "by descent" and "otherwise than by descent".

accablues wrote:Dear all, I am a British national and as I understand my baby will also be eligible for a passport wherever he/she is born (correct??)

Now a days trying to get information if my baby is born in Pak what are the prerequisites. Can anyone share their experience if they applied for a new born passport from Pakistan (Isb/Khi/Lhr)

I have been trying to get hold of BE in Pak but no luck - its been over two months but no reply to email as well. baby is due in Aug and I want to know what problems should I expect !!

I have gone through the forms and website which kindly administrator and other Gurus provided in my earlier post - but with someones FIRST HAND experience it will be far more helpfull.

Also a major point which I want to check - on the form it says the PARENTS ORIGINAL PASSPORT NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED and the application can take up to 6 months. Does this mean they will hold the passport for 6 months - which will not be possible for me as I work in Kuw and my wife is in Pak

just to avoid any confusion me and my wife are not seprated - unfortunately the Kuw govt has placed a ban on visas for 5 nationalities - Pak being one of them.

any help will be much appreciated

thanks and best regards
