1st time entering UK on EEA FP, entering through Ireland...

Hello!

Hoping someone here can help me with this.

I have just been issued an EEA Family Permit from the UK so that I may go live with my husband (who is Irish and working in the UK). I am currently in the process of buying my plane ticket over and the least expensive ticket option (by a LOT) involves a stopover in Ireland. (And therefore my first entry into the common area would be through Ireland). So, on to my questions (there are 2):

I know that generally traveling between Ireland and the UK one does not get a stamp on their passport, however I am wondering if it would be possible to get one in this instance so that my visa will show that I did indeed enter the UK?? (Eventually I will be applying for an EEA2 Resident Card and don't want my lack of UK entry stamp to cause problems.) Could I just ask an IO for an entry stamp once I land in the UK??

Or, am I worrying for nothing? I have heard from someone that one can send a boarding pass, etc when applying for the EEA2 to prove that one did indeed enter the UK, but don't want to do this unless I'm certain this is true.

Not having an entry stamp will not cause any issues with the EEA2 application but better to get it stamp if possible.

The UK side of this is not an issue. It does not particularly matter how you enter the UK, so long as your husband is working.

I am also delighted and amazed that any flights to the UK are cheaper if you fly through Ireland.

The only thing you should check is that you do not need an Irish transit visa for this flight.
