NARIC appeal

Has anyone any experience on how long it takes Naric to consider an appeal, and how do they inform you of the outcome?

While the initial application is easy and streamlined, as soon as you want to appeal it is almost impossible to get anyone to give any useful information, even to acknowlege reciept of the appeal.

What are their procedures for dealing with an appeal?

Have just recieved notice that my appeal was successful.

For refrence, when appealing you simply need to fax a letter outlining the you reasons for appealing their assessment, and include any supporting doccumentation you might have to prove your case (I included a letter from my university, and the South African Council for Higher Degrees).

The appeal is considered at a higher level than the caseworker who initially did the assessment.

They require 15 working days from reciept of the appeal and will not contact you to confirm they have recieved the doccumentation. Their only further correspondence will be another letter with the outcome of the appeal.

There is not cost for lodging an appeal.

What happened to your initial application?
Did they evaluate your masters equivalent to british bachelor or something?

Yeah, inital assessment was at British Bachelors degree. Letter arrived in South Africa after about 15 days but not the result I had anticipated

Chatting to the case worker, it sounds like it definitely helps to include additional information from national accreditation bodies as they have a closer working relationship at national rather than institution level.
