change in immigration status

I am in UK on Tier 1 Visa and my ILR is due this July, and my application for permanent immigration to Canada is also in process at London office (the final processing started in March 2012). Can seniors please guide me about the following queries?

1. After getting ILR (for me, Wife and son) do we need to update our file with Canada Embassy about this change of immigration status or it doesn’t matter??
2. I have an option to get the British passport for my son (as born in UK) soon after getting our ILR cleared, but me and wife has to wait for another year to get British passport. In case if we get British passport for son, how it will impact on Canada immigration case.
