thc for theninput. I talked to KLm in amsterdam but they told me KLM africa in lusaka is responsible for this since that is where the ticket was bought. There were a total of 8 people left at the airport yester (as it turned out today). my husband now got a net ticket for tomorrow but he was made to pay a ticket changing fe f 300 euros with the promise that he can get that refunded later but that in the system it needs to show a form of payment ( I dont know much about how these things work but that sounds very strange to me)
anyway lets hope he will get on the plane this time

This is amazing. They airline should be paying him a fee of several hundred euros for denying him boarding. You are both letting them get away with murder. He should get it in writing from the KLM manager that he will get the refund.

yes i told him to get it in writing as well as everything that led to this point. I am just not sure how to proceed from there. Do I contact a lawyer? Are there special lawyers that deal with this type of issues?

When is he rebooked for?

He needs to work very closely with the airline people there. He needs to print out the Eu law and approach them. And talk with them for as long as it takes. Getting names of everyone involved!

They need to immediately give him back his money, and his compensation that he is owed. They should also be putting him up at a hotel.

Waiting for a lawyer later is possible but likely too much hassle.

http://www.atab.org.uk/know-your-rights ... -boarding/ is a good summary

e.g. I was flying to NY from London. My plane was overbooked. So they gave me 300 euro and put me on a plane 2 hours later. This is directly because of EU law.

he is booked for tomorrow night. well they told him that they cant give him the money back regardless of how much he insisted and that klm europe is going to do it. KLM europe however claims that since the booking was made in zambia it is klm africa that is responsible...
everyone is just passing the ball around. But we will make sure to get all the names and details and hope they get scared enough.

also they claim overbooking was not the reason for the denied boarding and just that it was unfortunate that the gat had already closed when his issue was resolved

He must get that in writing.

The more evidence you have, the easier it is to go to small claims court in Norway.

I would have thought by arriving the day before, he was in plenty of time. Don't take this lying down. Their incompetence is not your fault.

KLM is an airline that operates out of Europe. The flight is covered by the regulations.

When did your husband actually attempt to check in (ie how many hours before flight)?

note check in requirements closes 60 mins before departure

http://www.klm.com/travel/ke_en/prepare ... points.htm

and open 2 hours before

http://www.klm.com/travel/ke_en/prepare ... /index.htm

So if your husband was there before these times, he should have been allowed to board.

I hope you ask for at least what is required by European Law (which definitely applies to this flight), plus the extra he was required to pay.

Please do not let them walk over you!

And enjoy having your husband home!
