wp dependent VS HSMP need help

Post by hellrheaven? » Thu Dec 28, 2006 6:48 am

Hello All :)

I have a query about HSMP, first let me update you on my UK visa status. I am on a work permit dependents visa, my wife is a work permit holder. My visa will be expiring in 5 years time. I have not yet reached UK, i will be doing so at the end of next month on a dependents visa. my wife and I have decided it would be secure for both of us if i am on my own visa and not a dependents visa, if in case my wife loses her job it wouldn't be necessary for us to leave as she can become my dependent.

My query is would it be wise for me to apply for HSMP instead of being a work permit holder dependent? I have gone through this forum and I have noticed most of them in general are not happy with the way the HSMP rules have changed recently and are uncertain about their future in UK.

Would it be possible for me as a work permit dependent to apply for a HSMP pro gramme while being in UK, without going back to my home country?

If by any chance if i find an employer who is ready to sponsor me for a WP, should i accept it? or should I carry forward with my HSMP plan?

Regards,

(not sure yet  )

I would suggest that, just take it easy on whats going on in these forums. Since you are due to arrive in the country in a week or two, may be you want to arrive here first.

Find a job or two, settle down and then think of changing visas etc.,

Dependent visa is very powerful and will not hinder you from getting a job.

If someone sponsors you a work-permit, then you MUST take it. but no hurry for it.

And regarding switching into HSMP, I would suggest that drop that idea for the next 6 months, re-evaluate your situation then based on any new rules that may have come in place by then and then take a decision.

Hope that helps.
