French citizens do not need permission to work in the UK.

I assume you have applied for a residence card.

Are you married to a French citizen living and working in the UK? If this is the case you do not actually require permission to work. However, you may have difficulty persuading an employer to hire you.

If you've applied for a residence card, you should receive a certificate of application from the home office by return.
