Tier 1 Visa - Extension Advice

Post by cipher » Thu Aug 02, 2012 8:19 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a strange issue. I recently sent my application for a Tier 1 Visa extension. I sent it away on the 19th and according to the Post Office tracking, it was delivered on the 20th. I promptly posted my details on Trackitt. As expected I received an acknowledgement letter on the 26th. So did another guy on Trackitt who posted his application on the same day as me. We both paid with Banker's Drafts. Now here's where it gets strange. 2 days later I received another acknowledgement letter from the UKBA. The posted date was different from the other letter but otherwise it was exactly the same letter. In fact even the Reference number was the same. I figured it was a mistake. But today I got an email from Trackitt and the other guy updated his case. He received the invitation letter for his biometrics today. So I went home eagerly rifling through my post expecting to see a letter from UKBA and sure enough there it was! So I tore it open ... and guess what? It was another acknowledgement letter with the posted date of 30th July and the exact same reference number!

Now I am beginning to panic... :( My application was pretty straightforward. I had two separate bank statements. I made more than 40,000 in 10 months. My salary was demonstrated by payslips for the last 10 months and I had bank statements for the same period. I attached a detailed excel sheet explaining my earnings. My maintainence funds were shown with statements from a different bank account. I am 27 years of age. I attached 4 photos in case one got misplaced. I included my Master's degree certificate. I included a detailed cover letter with all this information. I am very worried that something has gone wrong. My visa expired on the 30th of July. So if I get rejected I won't even be able to file a new application. I am not quite sure what to do ...

Could someone kindly advice? Has anyone else been sent multiple acknowledgement letters? It's bad enough to go through the terse and anxious few weeks after filing an application when you know everything is perfect. But it’s so much worse when you feel something has gotten screwed up! I want to call the UKBA office and enquire but I am not sure what to expect or even who to call!

Chill mate.

Relax.

UKBA will realize their mistake and will send you.

You have nothing to worry. You have got your first acknowledgement letter. Just keep that safe. Bin the rest of them. Just relax and wait for your bio-meteric letter. Thats your evidence. You can always prove them wrong if they say anything different then whats on that letter.

No point calling them as they will say nothing about your application as its too early.

And don't compare the timeline of your application with someone else's. It will only give you more stress. Its too early to say anything as you just posted your application.

Dont worry. As the other guy said. You will be fine.
