UK family member - do I need a visa to Portugal? Help!!

Post by 123butterfly123 » Fri Aug 03, 2012 10:04 am

Hi, guys!

Sorry, if it's a wrong forum..

I am a holder of British residence permit as a spouse of UK citizen.

We are travelling to Portugal (Azores) together with my husband.
I found out that EEA family members with endorsement of a family member of EEA citizen do not require a visa..

The thing is I have just RESIDENCE PERMIT and it says spouse/partner that's all.

Do I need a visa?

The problem is I'm curently abroad and when I come back to UK, there wll be no time for applying for visa..
Please, help, what can I do?

Thank you.

The residence permit you hold is not one issued under the directive so in general, it cannot be used in lieu of visa. You should however be able to get a free facilitated visa from EU countries.

Hi,
Not trying to hack the thread, but i am in a similar situation wanting a french schengen visa. But how do i get this "free facilitated visa from EU countries". The reason being i registered with french embassy website and there is an " * " in the form for most of the things including hotel details, finance etc.

Am i looking at wrong place?

Family members of EU citizens only need to complete certain parts of the form. It should be reasonably clear from the form itself.

Read the form carefully. Questions marked with * are not required for family of EU national.
