Hi, I am a US citizen who married a Colombian woman about ten years ago or so. We will soon be filing for divorce. She was previously married to a man in Colombia before she came to the US. She made a comment one day that caught me off guard... she said, in passing, I need to get a divorce from xxx. I was under the impression that she was already divorced at the time. I can't remember now if she made this comment before, or after, we were married here in the US. I need to verify the date that she got her divorce to this man in Colombia. Maybe my marriage is illegal, and should be void? I have no idea how to go about doing this. I don't speak, or read, spanish which makes navigating web sites in Colombia more difficult. Can a Colombian embassy here in the US help?
