Terried newbie about 2 apply 4 HSMP - need help (earnings)

Post by tawana12 » Fri Jan 05, 2007 6:44 pm

Hello everyone, I am a newbie to this website but from all the posts I have read, I think that this place really helps out alot of people. I'll try and keep my story short and sweet and here's hoping someone can help me nagivate my way through this process.

My points breakdown is as follows:

Application will be made IN COUNTRY

20 points for age
30 points for qualification
5 points for UK Work Experience
20 points for earning power

75 total points

I arrived in the UK in August 2005 on a Working Holidaymaker visa. That visa is due to expire in May '07 and I want to apply for the HSMP. Is it okay to apply for my HSMP now or should I wait till maybe end of Feb?

I have now reached 12 months (max. time allowed to work) and the local authority that I worked for on and off are in the process of making my odl position permanent and have unofficially offered me the position. The job was through an employment agency so technically, the agency is my employer but all my dealings have been with my direct mger and the head of dept (H.O.D). Will the fact that I was an agency employeed hinder my application?

My direct mger and the H.O.D would like to write a letter on my behalf to help support my application in terms of my work performance and that they would like to offer me the job I held, on a permanent basis, in the near future. Would this letter be of any help towards my application?

I have kept most of my wage slips that I got from the agency but like many others, they seem to have been printed off from a PC and have a black and white copy of the agency logo. Should I get them stamped and signed AND get a letter or is it okay if I just get them signed and stamped?

At the time I started working for the agency I had trouble opening a bank account and so initially my wages were being paid into my mum's account (I now have my own a/c). Will the fact that my wages used to be paid into my mom's account be a problem?

I have been given a 2005/2006 P60 that only shows part of the 12 mth income I would like to declare. Can I send this P60 and then the wage slips for the following months after 05 April '06 or do I need to send the wage slips for prior to 05 April 2006 as well? (can't find some of them)

Will I need to send all 50-odd of my wage slips or can I just send the first one and the last one to date ?

What should I submit as additional proof of earnings that I made since then. (I do not have a P60 for them 06/07 tax year?) [/b]

My gross earnings through the employment agency jobs earn me 15 points but I did have a Saturday job and have wage slips and can get a letter confirming the amount I earned (may also be able to get a company stamp and signature but don't know if they have one). Ihave not received a P60 for this job as I only started it in May 2006.

Can I declare these earnings and will this be enough evidence?

I have had run ins with my agency about a few things and would prefer not to approach them about my application so would it be okay to get confirmation of my earnings through my old mger and H.O.D?

Can they sign and stamp and write a covering letter stating that I was working through them via an agency and that they can confirm my earnings as they were the ones that signed off on the timesheets?

I know it's alot of questions so feel free to answer one or two only. I am really nervous about my application. I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

Since you are a newbie and have plenty of questions, I would recommend going through various posts/threads which have bene active over the last 15 days. You will get 95% of the answers. At that time, you can ask more specificing questions. By the way, I am not stopping anyone else from replying to your post.

might help if you number your questions too..sure are a lot.

Question 1 though, regarding if you should apply now or not:

It sounds like you have worked for 12months out of the total working holiday period, meaning you now should not be working at all...and taking the rest as "holiday". Whether that is enforced i dont know...

But, sooner u get HSMP, sooner you:
1) can legally work
2) have your time in UK count towards permanent residency - since WHV does not count

I was stupid and worked for almost 2 years on WHV - should have got HSMP sooner
