TIER 2 TO TIER 4: ATAS REQUIRMENT

Post by Sonal114 » Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:14 pm

Hi Guys,

I am switching (have to) my Tier 2 Visa to Tier 4. I had joined my PhD on 21 Sept 2009 on a Fellowship with Tier 2 sponsorship for three years. I was not required to submit ATAS while joining.

I have this appointment on 20th Sept to extend/switch my VISA (Tier 4) to complete my thesis writing . Do I need to submit ATAS along with my Visa application this time? I ask this because I have not applied for the ATAS yet as I did not know.

I need some urgent help.

Thanks,

Greenie

Yes, it does mention the Jacs code. However, I am applying for the extension and I did not submit any ATAS at the time of joining when ATAS rule was prevalent.

ATAS certificates are only required with tier 4 applications for courses with relevant jacs codes hence why you would not have required it when you started the course given that you had a tier 2 visa at the time. All courses have a jacs code. If yours is on the atas required list then you will need to apply for an atas certificate.
