EEA2 applicatio, EU national job seeker

Post by Roflazo » Thu Oct 04, 2012 6:46 pm

Hello everyone,

I am about to apply for a EEA2 residence permit but I have some doubts. Me and my wife arrived to the UK about a month ago using a EEA FP. We could rent a flat (both names appear on the Tenancy agreement). I have a british bank account and we already have an utility bill and just received the council tax sheet.
My question is, we just arrived and my wife hasn't found a job (she went to the jobcenter and will receive her national insurance number on monday). It would be wise to apply for the EEA2? Given that we have only been here a month she has been looking for a job but so far no luck. She is actually exercising her treaty rights as a job seeker. We will include in the application all the jobcenter papers+applications made to jobs online (so far any interview).
do we stand a chance to obtain the EEA2?

Your eea national will have of course 3 months not to excercise any treaty rights. Safer option is self sufficient because on job seeker basis it will be very difficult to prove to ukba that without job you will not be a burden on public funds.
