Need Help Feeling out Section D of immigration history(tier1

I am extending my tier 1 General visa.
I am having a little confusion feeling out this section.
D1. Did the applicant obtain entry clearance or a visa before entering the UK

of course I had visa so this question doesn't make any sense to me.
can anybody explain me please what are they after.

Hi,

Many questions in the form do not make complete sense, but regardless of what you think, you have to fill it anyway. Our job as applicants is to complete the form and not ask whether questions make sense or not.

I appreciate it. I know I have to fill out the form whether it make sense or not. all I need is a bit of an idea what are they trying to ask in
Section D (Immigration History)
From D1 to D4.
I came to UK in 2005 as student only at that time my visa says Entry Clearance. then I had several extensions.
so If you can please help me understand D1 to D4
I would greatly appreciate it

You have answered this question yourself. The answer would be "yes" as you obtained EC before you entered the UK (even though it was as a Student). Note EC is only granted outside of the UK. Once you are in the UK, you are granted "leave to remain" when you apply to extend your current leave or switch to another immigration category.

everything makes perfect sense mate, else those questions wouldnt be there.

that question makes sense to BA if you are an illegal immigrant who entered UK sailing on a dinghy or in a container

I have got my answer so I need to declare the date I got entry clearance first time and VAF no. is the Entry clearance no.
what would be the answer to the
D4.Are either the applicant's current and/or any one of his/her previous passport(s) or travel document(s) that he/she has used to travel to, and remain in, the UK which shows his/her current leave unavailable?

It is simply asking whether the said passport is unavailable and it is a simple yes or no answer - what don't you understand about the question??

I have a relevant question:

I obtained about 4 years ago Student visa and come to the UK and then left it. Then again I obtained the Tier 1 General. Now, in this section and relevant section in dependent form should we only fill the most relevant entry clearance details or we should mention previous applications as well?
