Some questions...

Post by notsure » Tue Jan 23, 2007 11:05 am

Hello:

Here's my situation:

I was born in Britain but my family moved to Pakistan shortly after that. I got married in 1998 to my Pakistani husband and we have been living in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for the past eight years. We have two wonderful kids - one's 6 and the other is 3.

We would like to move and settle in the UK - job opportunities for my husband are thinning out in Dubai. He comes from a Software Development (IT) background. We think there are better options available in UK and it would also give me an opportunity to get back to my studies - I have completed an MBBS from Pakistan.

We would like to apply for a Settlement visa but that means that he would need to quit his job and move to the UK first - and then apply and find jobs. Most head-hunters require you to have a work permit before you can apply. It's quite a dilemma. I was wondering if any of you have gone through this process and could guide us on what the best option is.

I have a few other questions but I'll save that for later.

Thanks and regards.

Have you got a British passport? If not, please post more detail about yourself ..... the year of your birth ... also, the nationality and UK immigration status of your parents at the time of your birth?

Yes I have a British passport - so do our two children (we got their passports made in Dubai). I was born in 1975. My parents were (at the time of my birth) and still are Pakistani citizens.

Do your children have British style birth certificates as well as British passports?

Yes - one of them does have it. For the younger one, we can get it fairly easily.
