Expired COS

The visa that had been given to me is still valid, but my COS isn't. I know that I've to obtain a new COS, but do I need to go through the entire visa application process again?

A CoS is only valid for use for 3 months and once used (i.e. when you got your visa) it cannot be used again. You only need to concern yourself with the validity of your visa, not the CoS. If you want an extension of your leave you will need a new CoS and indeed go thorugh the whole application process again.
