Received a notice to leave, when I have already left

Post by zkiwi » Tue Oct 30, 2012 6:12 pm

As I indicate in the subject, I have received a letter saying I have to leave the UK, however I left 2 months ago!

Can anyone tell me what on earth might be going on? And for that matter what I can do, who I can contact to sort this out?

Confused, totally.

Perhaps ukba is unaware that you have left? What are your circumstances exactly? Are you a tier 2 migrant and have left your employer?

I'm fairly sure they don't know, although why they don't is is the mystery. I was a Tier 2 sponsored worker and I did leave my employment in the UK and returned home. I'm thinking that I need to write to the guy who sent me the letter and let him know I have left the UK already.

I'm hoping that will be enough, but I'd love to know if there's anything else I might need to do to get this sorted.

Why is it such a mystery? unless you informed them you had left the country how would they know. As long as you have evidence of the date you left (eg boarding pass, stamp on your passport showing re-entry to US then there is no need for you to right to them.

It is a mystery, because my employer notified them of my leaving already, with details. Maybe I should have made that clear earlier.

Is it possible that someone might have stolen your identity, working/living as you?
Please do not send me PM if I haven't sent you one yet.

don't make the guy paranoid!

The letter you have received is a standard letter they send curtailing your visa. For all your employer knows you could've told them you were leaving and then changed your mind or returned. No mystery at all.
