Applying for dependent Tier 2 General

Hi All,

Need a bit of help applying for Tier 2 general dependent visa for my wife to be.

I am really hoping I'll be able to bring my wife to be in the UK after I get married. I have lots of questions and doubts at the moment if anyone could help I will be very appreciative:

1. I am in the UK currently on Tier 2 General but my wife -to-be is back in Mauritius. We are getting married in December. Can she apply from there at the local UK Embassy? Or do I need to submit an application for a dependent visa inside UK?

2. If I am applying inside the UK for a dependent, do I not need to send Her passport too? How does it work? Please help.

3. Doesn't she need to do biometric scans? Will she be asked to do biometric scans back in Mauritius? We now get a biometric card instead of passport vignette as before, so will my wife get one too? Or will it be on her passport.

4. I am only applying for her, there is still enough time to renew mine, so do I need to show funds for both myself and supporting her, i.e. 600 + 900? or just 600?

Please help me on the above. It is so frustrating this visa process. I would be very grateful if anybody knows of the full requirements to apply for dependent.

I've been through the links and VAF10 guidance.

It doesn't say what sort of documentary evidences are required from the applicant. I presume the following but would be very grateful if someone can confirm the complete set of documents required:

1. Own/applicant Bank statements for last 90 days for maintenance of funds (£600)
2. COS number in a letter from my Employer with dates of employment and salary.
3. Marriage certificate
4. Do I need to provide photocopy of my Biometric ID?
5. Copy of first page of my passport and last page.
6. Does her passport need to be in married name, or her current one will suffice?

Any addition to this list will be much appreciated.

Just one more thing, I haven't seen anything that there's a requirement for dependent to take IELTS. But I was told by someone that it might be needed. Is that true?
