Registration with a Governing Body : New IT Consulting Firm

Post by sn00pDaisy » Sun Nov 11, 2012 11:27 am

Hi Gurus,

We plan to start our own IT consulting business and wish to obtain the sponsorship license from UKBA.

We also understand that, as part of the this process; we will need to be registered with a governing body.

Now we are not sure what will be this governing body for an IT Consulting Firm ? (Companies House is not considered to be a governing body for this purpose)

Any pointers from the respected members ?

Regards,

see:

From what you wrote you are a start-up company (Group 1)

you are only required to register with a governing body if that is a requirement for you to operate legally in the UK.

Thanks for your reply.

I am not aware that as an IT company we need to be registered with a governing body.

That is the reason, I am asking the members here (some of which might already have a sponsorship license for their IT companies), if we need to register to any governing body ?

this would be the case, for instance, for law firms, medical service providers, etc.

As a start-up IT consulting business your company do not need to be registered with any governing body in respect to obtaining a sponsor license.

Source: I have been an IT contractor working with my own limited company for the past two years, and at one point I thought of expanding and obtaining the license.

Just one thing, the director who will be responsible for managing migrants, can not be on a time limited visa in the UK, i.e. s/he must already have ILR in UK at the very least.

Hope this helps.
Andy
