Post by gameyoor » Mon Nov 12, 2012 12:39 pm

Hello, I am from a commonwealth country currently living in the United Kingdom. I intend joining the british army and I am at the latter stage of completing the process. However i ve got 3 months left on visa and i need not less than 6 months to complete the process. I will need advice on how to extend my visa

The Army is usually very keen on getting new grunts, so I would imagine they are eager to help you with that. Depending on the current recruitment rates, they may even be willing to take over the paperwork work. Do you have a name in the recruitment centre? Someone you are in contact with for your application process?

Sorry (and very surprised) to hear that the Army operates such a lousy service for queueing applicants nowadays.
Was one of your grandparents by any chance born in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, British-registered ship or (if before 1922) in Republic of Ireland? In that case an Anchestry Visa would imho be the best call for Commonwealth citizens. Otherwise, another member can probably advice better. Point-based visas and such are not my specialty. On what visa are you currently here anyway?
