We are starting to get really frustrated now, called the UKBA number again to be told the case is in process, is there nothing else we can do apart from wait?

I just sent a complaint letter to UKBA complaints department. I haven't got any response when I sent my first complaint via email. So now I sent one via post. Not sure if I'm gonna hear anything from them this time though..

Timeline:
Date Docs Sent: 23 March 2012
Received by UKBA: 27 March 2012 (saw it via Royal Mail tracking service)
Acknowledgement Letter: Didn't receive any!
BRP Letter: 4 April 2012 (although in the letter it was dated 30 March 2012)
BRP Done: 10 April 2012
Docs & Result: STILL WAITING
BRP Card: STILL WAITING

hey whitequeen,

Ur in the sort of same position as us, we applied around the same time end of march and biometrics start of April and still waiting...

I know its hard to say, but in the worst case scenario when do u think we should receive the visa by? UKBA are probably going to be closed most of December so unlikely to receive anything then.

Hi everyone,

Great to read the good news, whether you're an applicant from early in the year or more recently. My heart and thoughts are especially with those people who have been waiting over 6 months.

A question for those people who have recently received good news: Did any of you apply around end June / early July and NOT request a passport back? I'm just wondering what my chances are as I applied 3rd July (biometrics 3rd Sept) and have not requested anything back. I'm trying to stay positive and I'd like to think I might be fortunate soon!

Hello,
We've applied on 8th of May. The Biometrics done on 26th of May. Consequently, we are on the 7th months of waiting by now :(! After 6 months waiting I've called the UKBA just to hear that: "Your application is not completed yet!" and this is it, what you got from them. What I could do after such reply?! I just answered, that "Thank you! The fact that my application is not completed I am aware of myself better than you!" and ended the conversation. They are requesting to contact them after half a year of waiting, as if after this half a year they are giving you detailed information about your application! Why this call center exist at all, I don't understand! Just sitting there and warming up the chairs! Total waste of time and money, and by the way, wasting our money! :( And because of their incompetence people are deprived their passports and are literally under home arrest, one cannot go anywhere, do what they want and manage their own life, as they wish! :( This is real moral torture! They destroy peoples psyche, nerves and health! I wish them to experience the same "service"!!!

We didn't contact UKBA at all during the process except to submit the application/docs and then biometrics.

There was a theory that requesting the sponsor's passport back might prompt them to dig out the application and deal with it then. But, for every tale we've read where this 'appeared' to work we've read many others where it had no affect. We took the view that there was a greater risk having workers sorting through your application and then possibly miss filing it away or losing documents to be worth it.

Aus25, given your timeline (very similar to ours) I'd be hopeful of hearing something soon.

Don't lose hope.

I don't know the UKBA's holiday schedules but they are likely to be working for at least another 4 or 5 weeks.

Update

Post by UnKindBAst » Wed Nov 21, 2012 10:45 am

Hi all,
This forum has been of great help. and i wish to share my info
I received my BRP after 7months and few days.

applied 22march2012.
acknowledgement letter 29march
biometric completed 4 april.
everything went quick and then a long wait....................
received documents back nov 7 .....
BRP on 11nov. ....:-)
travel plans booked and ready to go..

i applied via post and never went through any lawyer. would suggest to send all your documents, and mind you they do a thorough check of all your documents. it also helps if you send all docs they dont have to contact you.
just to let you all know 7-8 months is a normal wait. after which you need to panic....

looks like requests for additional information have become standard practise. I wrk in an immigration law firm and 90% of the application we posted between feb and now have come back with additional info requests. theory is because they take too long to process applications, alot of peoples circumstances change during that time. and they are using this to catch people out.e.g some pple lose their jobs and then get caught out when they ask for recent payslips and bankstatements

Suggest you take time to read the FLR (M) guide & UKBA website for the suggested documents.
The website are messy. Best you have a pen & paper while reading, write down all the points then group them into categories.
So, you can create a story telling by answering all the categories required documents & further explain on the cover letter.

Here are my breakdown categories examples: pre new rules ofcoz.

Maintenance - 6 months bank account both sponsor & mine. Amount should be logical. Any big amount increased should be explain further in cover letter.

English - UK Degree certificate. This iron-out 2 aspect, English requirements & employable (soft evidence for maintenance).

Prove of Identity & address
Your bank statement is one of address proof. Any utility company such as TV subscription, water, gas n electricity will be good. As well your passport which you have to send in as identity.
Rental agreement. This is also a hard evidence for accommodation / maintenance.

Prove of relationship
Marriage certificate & divorce final prove document (if any).

Cover Letter:
Sponsor & applicant. Explain stuffs here, remove caseworker potential doubts.

Other documents:
Include CV. Tweak it as impressive as possible, but not lie about it. It gives caseworker an idea you are employe-able & wont required public funds / aid.
I even included 4-5 prospect employer HRs' communication since I am in the country. Highlight that in your cover letter.

Applied 24 August
Confirmation letter 29 August
BM letter 21 November

It's a disgrace.

Hi Skonky, sorry to distress you more.

But i think you miss the line in the application form pg 17.
"SECTION 11 - DOCUMENTS
Your finances
Evidence of your finances. Bank statements, building society savings books, pay slips or other formal documents as evidence of your and your partner’s ability to maintain and accommodate yourselves and any dependants without recourse to public funds. See Note 5."

Also here are the few suspicious I think UKBA asking for these documents.
Bank statements for both + 2 years pay slip.
1)Either there is a sudden surge of amount on applicant bank statements.
that didn't explain further in a cover letter.
2)Or available funds aren't adding up for livings without recourse to public funds.
Caseworker only have documents proof to process on. So, sending appropriate documents proof is gold.

Council tax bill + proof of home ownership (assuming you do owned a house in this context)
1)Did you include at least proof of home ownership during application?
If no it will create doubt for caseworker. Recent council tax bill is a counter check of 2 things. a)Current living address is your claimed owned home b)an estimation of living cost - council tax amount (part of the puzzle)

The good part is. Your application is getting their attention & they are processing it now.
So Good Luck.

PS. OMG I am speaking like the FLRM form now
