Hi All,

This is my first post, I hope you guys can help me out my problem. I am working in my company nearly 1 year Right now i am in PSW visa my visa expires on 12 Jan 2013, My company ready to sponsor my visa,

ANY ONE PLEASE TELL ME I NEED SOC CODE OR WITH OUT SOC CODE CAN I GET TIER 2 VISA.

You need a job SOC code and have to be paid the appropriate salary. It is the employer's responsibility (not yours) to determine these when assigning the CoS.

A solicitor cannot help you with the job SOC code.

Surely, you and the employer must know what the job is they are going to sponsor you for!

You and your employer can then determine the job SOC code from the link in my previous post.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR QUICK REPLY. I will sit with my employer and find the soc code and let you ASAP.

Currently I am earning 21000£, soc code or my salary which one is higher to get to the visa right . I think I am eligible for getting tier 2. If I am wrong Please Let me know.

Hi Crish,

Do you mean since your salary is above 20,000, you are eligible for tier2?

Your salary (not at present, but when you start work as a Tier 2 migrant) must be at least £20k or the minimum stated for the job SOC code, whichever the higher. If I am wrong Please Let me know.

Even I am facing the same situation. My employer told me to look on SOC .

There are two checks when it comes to minimum salary.

1. you need to earn at least 20k regardless how many hours u work or what your hourly rate is

2. you need to get paid at or above above the minimum rate as stated in the relevant code of practice

Psw is not a 'work permit' psw is a sub category of tier 1 of the points based system. A work permit is a pre PBS category. Your job needs to be nqf level 6 or above.

for your salary and SOC code only 37.5 hours will be accepted by UKBA, 40 hours will not,

Hi,

I have submitted my visa application 3 days before. I have sent my supporting Documents are:
1. COS
2. COMPANY NEW CONTRACT (ORIGINAL)
3. DEGREE CERTIFICATE
4. BANK STATEMENT
5.PASSPORT
6.PHOTO

I am just wondering one of my friend told me u have to sent company offer letter with this.
Ex: i am going to sponsor visa for this XXXXX like that. actually i didnt do that. I am working more than 1 year so my employer gave new contract new salary and all. I just submit my new contract that's it.

Is there OK or they may reject my visa please let me know. i am worrying too much.

Hi,

What about job roles appearing on the soc index but have no job spec/salary in the codes of practice?

Example: The role of "Executive, Communications, Web" as it is listed on the soc index has a code 2132 associated with it, which I am aware, is an NQF Level 6 role. But code 2132 has a number of roles listed under it such as Graduate Developer, Operations Analyst etc. which have a salary and job spec associated with it described in the codes of practice.

So, how does one determine the appropriate salary level and role for the "Executive, Communications, Web" role?

Any inputs will be appreciated.

choose the job description that is the best match for your role and in the CoS use the corresponding job title even if it is not the job title you have within the company.

Remember, it is the company's task to deal with this, not yours, and they are responsible to UKBA for what they put in the CoS.
