UK salary question

Post by apply4hsmp » Sun Feb 04, 2007 1:13 pm

My company is paying me £2200 per month. Tax and N1 they are paying for me as well. Can I say that my salary is 36K per annum ?

My Work Permit shows 36K as gross per annum on the Work Permit issued to me.

Will the salary slip work ?

What does your payslip say? Are you being paid a gross amount of £3000 per month?

It shows this way,

Earnings for NI A
Taxable Pay B
Total Gross Pay C

Where A,B are paid by company to UK government and I get C amount credited to my Salary Account.

So is Gross not A + B + C ? or only C ?

Also, I am currently in UK from India on Work Permit for 5 months and I get this £2200 as Allowance rather than salary.

Will my earnings be considered for UK or for India where actually my base is for my job ?
My company clearly states this in WP application that I am being sent to UK on a temporary basis.

As stated earlier my company pays NI and all taxes etc.

Logically speaking your Gross pay is A+B+C

But is this amount shown anywhere in the payslip .....

If not then you can request your employer to give you a letter stating the gross earning .

This should help .....

John,

Amount is shown as below.

Earnings for NI 1,200.00
Taxable Pay 1,200.00
Total Gross Pay 2,200

It seems this is an allowance rather than a salary.(?)

According to http://netsalary.blogspot.com/ which gives the list of various already-calculated salaries

36K a year means 2,190.55 a month.

If this is the payslip given to you is this all mentioned on your payslip ....

Is there any mention of Net pay , deductions etc .... Please elaborate such that we can give you more precise analysis ....

Please ask your company to provide you with a letter stating your Gross salary paid for the months you are in UK.

I guess that should clarify as to what your Gross would be .
