Return of passport in support of FLR(m) application

Post by csandbrook » Mon Jan 07, 2013 2:59 pm

Hi all,

My wife has applied for FLR(M). I don't know the exact dates, but she applied at the beginning of September and the Biometric letter came in mid December. Judging by others on this forum we are unlikely to receive the final result for another few months.

I have several work-related overseas trips coming up in the next few months, so I would like to know if it is possible for me as a UK citizen to request the early return of my passport? If so, how should I do this? It seems particularly ridiculous for me (and the UK economy) to lose my business trips when I am already a UK citizen and just supporting my wife as the lead applicant. (Of course there are many other outrageous things about FLR(M) applications, of which you won't need reminding.)

Any advice VERY much appreciated!

Yes, as the sponsor you can ask for your passport to be returned. You'll find it here under 'Return of document request form'.

Hi Casa,

Many thanks for your response. I am still slightly confused - if I request my passport to be returned, the text on the website suggests that this would effectively cancel my wife's visa application and we would have to start again. But on the return of documents form there is a box to check to say whether we wish to withdraw the application? Do you know if it is possible to ask for the Spouse passport back without withdrawing the application?

Thanks again!

My understanding is that on the Request form you say 'No' to withdrawing application and where the form asks 'Please specify whose documents you require' you say 'Sponsor'.
You are able to request your passport to be returned without affecting your wife's application.
