Self employed to company director

Post by dd156 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 12:21 am

Can a visa holder go from being a sole trader to a company, as long as the services provided by the business remain the same?

Thank you Rehan for the reply.
Am I allowed to be self employed and also be the director of a company on tier 1, or can I run just one business?

Thank you for all the replies. I'd been unsure as to whether a tier 1 holder could be actively involved in more than one business at a time. I've heard different people say different things about whether we can only run one business actively or more than one (both as self employed and/or as a company).

You can change business after getting visa not a problem but make sure you meet all the requirement otherwise you will have problem in extension.

Do you mean the two full time jobs and the full investment of funds? Or are there some other requirements also?

Thanks. So if I run one business at NQF level 4, can at least set up and administer another than may not be at level 4?

yes I think you can but you cant claim any points for extension application or for funds invested from that business which is not at NQF LEVEL 4 equivalent.

If you wish to reduce cost then it may be worthwhile looking at the apprenticeship scheme providing you can offer a graduate with minimum of 30 hours and you will receive some funding from the government, too.
