Do I have to wait?

Post by Greenhammer » Mon Jan 28, 2013 11:59 pm

Hello all

First time poster and all that, ill try and keep this short and sweet.
Ive been reading the last couple months worth of posts on here and couldnt find wat i was looking for.

I do believe i have to earn the amount of £18,600 anually for my future wife to apply for a spouse visa. i currently earn only £16,500
so looking for a new job at the moment.

now my question is, if i did get a job with the right amount. do i have to be employed for 6 months to prove and show the earnings before she can apply for the visa

Thank you for any help

Short answer is yes - you do need to wait.

The caveat on that is: Unless you have sufficient savings to cover the shortfall income. You'd need £21,250 (assuming no children) in an account in one of your names for 6 months prior to application.

Thanks for the reply MPH80

My savings are not close to that.
I've read that overtime can make up the difference, so gonna try this route and wait till i have the 6 months worth before applying.

However you meet the requirements (overtime or a second job) you have to wait six months, then apply.

Bear in mind that the ECO will take the lowest month's payslip when making the annual calculation.

Thanks SoHopeful and Casa, yeah I'm gonna make sure not one of the 6 months fall below £1550.

It will probably the end of the year when my partner applies for the spouse visa.
But she wants to come over in may on a family visitor visa as her brother lives in wales and due a baby then.

Will she need a bank account to apply for a visa to the UK ?

Thanks

It's not mandatory.
