Hey guys, I received all my documents back on 1st of December, however still haven't received my BRP.
Please can you tell me whether the BRP was supposed to be delivered by Special Delivery or is it a regular letter? Thanks!

Hey guys - I have received my documents back on the 1st of December (dated 29th of November), however my BRP still hasn't arrived. Does anyone know if it was supposed to come as Special Delivery or regular letter? Thanks!

njsaunders - what did the letter from your MP say? Are they able to help at all?

Just saying that she sent a letter to the UKBA, explaining my situation and asking for any help. It said she expects a response within 8 weeks.

I'm not holding out much hope on that front.

Applied 9th October and need to travel on 20th January

Post by cw0984 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 5:37 pm

We applied on 9th October and still waiting. MP is involved but so far no joy.

I cannot believe we are being help captive in the country by the UKBA.

Any more news on other applications from October?

Update

Post by lenadream » Tue Jan 08, 2013 5:59 pm

I applied on 28 of September, still waiting as well. MP received the letter from UKBA at the end of December saying that my case was sent to complaint department and I will get a reply as soon as possible. I have not received anything yet. Also MP mentioned that she cant do anything else, that I have to be patient and also that I should write her again if nothing will happen till March. That is it :(

I applied 26th of November and just received my biometrics letter yesterday! i think i have a loooong wait in front of me.

Mailed BRP(RC) - 26.11.2012
Acknowledgment letter - 28.11.2012
Biometrics invitation - 03.01.2013
Received invitation - 07.01.2013
Registered biometrics - 08.01.2013

For those that feel the MP helped speed things along, how long do you recommend I wait before raising the issue? I think 20 working days from biometric enrolment is more than reasonable... Thoughts?

Resolved at last

Post by cw0984 » Thu Jan 10, 2013 9:59 am

We finally got the passport and documents back today.

I think it was thanks to our MP's office who phoned and spoke to the UKBA on our behalf a number of times. The initial response was that they could not do anything and then suddenly they said it would be in the post within a couple of days.

Our MP's office had initially said we could cancel the application and have the documents back within 10 days (I know that is different to what the UKBA website says) which I think we would have done through them.

I don't want to speculate about whether the MP's office actually managed to speed it up, if it was about to be sent anyway or if the inquiry made them realise they had made a mistake but I am very happy we now have the documents and can travel next week.

This is a disastrous situation and it is time the UKBA stopped treating people as second class human beings.

Our timelines overall were:
Apply 9th October
Biometrics completed about a month later
MP involved start of December
MP chased a week ago with lots of correspondence this week
Passport and marriage certificate received today
Card is apparently on its way.

For information we were just requesting a name change.

Congrats, Chris! This is just insane that they keep our passports for many months and we can't leave the country like poor hostages!
I wish my MP would've more persistent!

I've been meaning to post an update but I was traveling. My replacement process was faster than I expected. I'm not sure why - perhaps the MP letter or just the fact that it was a straightforward replacement of a stolen BRP and not a name change. My updated timeline:

Application posted: 16-11-2012
Acknowledgment letter received: 22-11-2012 (dated 20-11-2012)
Sent email to MP: 30-11-2012
Invitation for Biometrics: 6-12-2012 (dated 2-12-2012)
Biometrics enrolled: 6-12-2012
Phoned MP to follow up with email: 7-12-2012
Received letter from MP (who mailed UKBA): 11-12-2012
Passport and letter returned: 22-12-2012 (dated 20-12-2012)
BRP card 1st attempted: 27-12-2012 (expected to receive week of 14 Jan)

I had flights booked for my girlfriend and I on Christmas Day, a long planned trip. I decided to risk leaving without getting my new BRP in the hope that because the card had been printed and sent off by UKBA they could confirm my file with all of the other evidence I could show for my visa status. I landed today 13-01-2013 and besides the officer needing to go check my file with a higher officer there wasn't a problem. I showed a photocopy of my old BRP, that had been cancelled, and the letter from UKBA for my successful BRP(RC) application.

Best of luck to everyone.

Happy news! I got my passport back yesterday and my BRP is following.

My timeline:

Mailed BRP(RC) - 26.11.2012
Acknowledgment letter - 28.11.2012
Biometrics invitation - 03.01.2013
Received invitation - 07.01.2013
Registered biometrics - 08.01.2013
Passport returned - 24.01.2013
BRP - due within 7 days

Just over 2 weeks from biometric enrollment - hopefully they are speeding up the process!

Received acknowledgment letter: 13.10.2012 (stated date 03.10.2012)
Received the invitation for biometrics: 10.10.2012 (stated date 05.10.2012)
Biometrics enrolled: 11.10.2012
Send complained e-mail to UKBA and copied it to MP: 27.11.2012
Received letter from MP: 30.11.2012
Received the standard letter from UKBA: 3.12.2012
Received the letter with the reply on my complaints: 24.01.2013
Received my documents: 25.01.2013

Anish, did you get any email confirmation from UKBA before you got documents posted?

I have tried contacting UKBA, got reply after 4 days, advised my application is still with case officer for decision.

Could you please advice me.

I have lost my BRP card and please find my time line below.

First intimation to UKBA - 14th jan 2013 -through email
Applied on (BRP(RC)) - 17th Jan 2013
Fee taken - 21/01/2013
Biometric invitation - 24/01/2013
Biometric enrolled - 24/01/2013 - post office
First contact with UKBA - 5/02/2013 - Advised application is still in process
Second Contact - 14/02/2013 - advised me two options - 1.continue to wait for decision or 2. With draw the application.

I am opting to withdraw the application as i need to travel abroad asap.
Please advice me, In how many days do i need to re-apply for BRP(RC)? if i am not wrong From abroad i need to take one entry visa to enter into the UK and then re-apply.
How will they calculate for my re-application? will they calculate 3 months from ( My First Intimation) 14/01/13 or from the withdraw date?
Please advice me.

My case might have been the record holder in turns of processing time. It's been over 8 months now. Finally received my passport back together with the supporting documents altho still waiting for the new BRP card. I assume it is on its way.

Here is the updated timeline:

Application for replacement BRP posted on 16/06/2012
Acknowledgement letter dated 20/06/2012 from UKBA received together with Biometrics Enrollment letter.
Enrolled my biometric information at a post office on 26/06/2012
Received supporting documents with letter(dated 14/02/2013) confirmation the issue of new BRP on 16/02/2013
Received replacement BRP card on 19/02/2013

Good luck to everyone else here! Hopefully it won't be as long as my case for you guys.
boyd wrote:Hi just to share my painful experience with your guys. As you may understand, constantly i can't sleep at night because of the seemingly endless wait for my replacement BRP.

I had my BRP stolen back in June. Immediately reported it to the police and the Home Office. Also quickly posted my application for replacement BRP as well.

Acknowledgement letter dated 20/06/2012 from UKBA received together with Biometrics Enrollment letter.
Enrolled my biometric information at a post office on 26/06/2012

Nothing has been heard from them ever since.
It's been 5 months and 11 days.
Because of the this i couldn't go for holidays since June.
Still can't make any booking for future.

Can't really think straight right now just so stressed and worried. Don't know what I can possibly do.

my case

Post by lil4lisz » Thu Mar 14, 2013 9:42 pm

Just want to share my experience with UKBA (BRP Replacement application)

My bag was stolen with all my important belongings, including my BRP, in Covent Garden on 27/01/2013.

28/01/2013: Sent an email to inform BRP about the stolen BRP
30/01/2013: Posted an application via Post Office
not sure when I got an acknowledgement letter, but it was around the first week of February.
21/02/2013: Biometrics Enrollment letter delivered dated 18/02/2013
22/02/2013: Enrolled biometrics in Reading
12/03/2013: Passport and supporting documents delivered dated 11/03/2013 (I was so shocked but happy because I expected it to be a long wait)

14/03/2013: Replacement BRP delivered with date of issue 11/03/2013

Overall, it took me approximately 6 weeks ( 31 UKBA working days) to get it done, which is really satisfying.

Didn't expect to get it this fast as I heard many of my friends had to wait so long (new Tier 4 application, not the case of replacement). My friend assumed that because the Easter holidays are coming, so they wanted to finish the case before the break.

I wish anyone who are waiting get your replacement BRP soon!

Good luck all...

Documents BRP RC

Post by ocforever » Fri Mar 22, 2013 1:54 am

Hello, Everyone!!!

Could you tell me which documents you sent with your BRP (RC) application please?

I am lost, I have my civil partnership certificate to prove I can use my partner's surname and some utility bills as the registrar said I don't need a deed poll for changes like this one.

And I can't change my passport yet as I need to send to Brazil.
I think there is no problem in having BRP with married surname
and passport with single surname, right?

Thank you[/b]

Your name in passport and BRP must match. After you change your name on your passport, you need to change your name on your BRP within 90 days.
