Is this the first time you are travelling alone? Why should it be different than any other time you travelled?

You don't need to travel with the EEA national.
You will be fine.

I will advice you to check with the country you are going to, because I travel a lot and always I had to get visa if i'm going without my EEA spouse, i'm also holding RC. Even if you go with her but try to come back alone you still might have to get visa re-enter the UK.
Applied for EEA4 on 24/02/2012.
HO received on 27/02/2012.
Refusal received on 16/08/2012 dated 11/08/2012
At the court, the HO REP withdrawn the decision and asked me to send the DOC for the time before marriage.
PR dated 05/03/2013

What do you mean by visa to re-enter the UK? renu holds a RC. Which visa would renu need?

carry your sons birth certificate - you are ensuring your sons EEA rights are upheld (direct family member of a son: mother / father if under 18)
