a) - you dont count leaving day and returning day. The rule talk about whole day. its look like you got 90 daysEss2013 wrote:Ok, I'm a newbie and need all the help I can get!
a) How is the 90 day period calculated? I exited the UK on 10 July 2010 and re-entered the UK on 9 October 2010. How many days' absence is this? I'm unable to determine which days to count towards absence. Does the day i LEAVE the UK count as an absence? Similarly, does the day I ENTER count towards an absence? What happens if i have exceeded 90 days?
b) Are total 180 days absences allowed over a 12-month period or 180 absences allowed over a 5 year period?
Thanks.
The answer to this has been provided in the response immediately prior to your post. There is no maximum length stipulated for a single trip in the updated rules. The absence threshold is no more than 180 whole days in any of the consecutive 12 month periods during your ILR residence period, counting back from the date of your application.shahmir wrote:So what is the total period you can stay outside UK in five years when you generally visit back home and not for the business purpose? What could be maximum length of a single trip and what is allowed period in total 5 years?

For your absences while on a WP, provide an employer letter to confirm them. No employer letter or evidence is required for your T1G absences if they were annual leave or business related absences.mptj wrote:I am planning to apply for ILR but wish to know what document proof I would need to support/submit my less than 180 days absence which was mainly due to family visit/holidays. Out of total 05 years, initial 14 months were on work permit (absence 32 days) and remaining time is on Tier1 (around 130 days).
How many days one can stay outside UK each year if the absence is not in line with the purpose of visa but it is just a personal trip abroad?mulderpf wrote:The rules have changed months ago. Its 180 days PER year, not for the full 5 years. However, this should generally be in line with the purpose of your visa.
