Juggling between two countries

Post by jagacharaja » Sat Mar 03, 2007 3:34 pm

I'm an Indian citizen resident in the US on H1B work visa. My HSMP app got approved recently. As I understand I have six months to apply for entry clearance.

Just so I am clear on my options (or lack thereof), can anybody share their knowledgeable insight:

Can I enter the UK on HSMP visa, stay there for a few days, leave the country for a few months, come back again for some more time, and keep doing this until my personal circumstances require me to? Would I have any problems doing this, at any point?

Is there a time limit to enter the UK after obtaining entry clearance..? Would it count against me if I entered the UK a few months after obtaining EC?

Is there a limit as to I have to stay a particular amount of days in the UK before leaving the country temporarily, or I can be out of UK only for a certain amount of time...?

Based on your experience/knowledge, what's a good amount (pound equivalent) to provide documentation for, while applying for EC?

Thanks for any input/views.

No Problem. It will be multiple Entry Visa for normally 2 Years. You can Enter and Leave the UK any number of times but your Visa extension (after 2 years) may be affected because of this.

No Limit. You can enter anytime after getting the Visa.

Please check UK Govt Website for HSMP Rules and Regulation. I am not sure about it. However, I believe, it may be one year. Means you cannot stay away from the UK for more than one year.

Actually there is no hard Rule for it. It depends on the Immigration Officer. All they want that you can stay there for some time without any financial problem. Means you should show enough money (for an individual) to stay there at least 6 months. I believe that showing GBP 4000 or more should be more than enough.

Thanks for any input/views.
