Spouse Visa

Post by seekit » Tue Feb 12, 2013 4:24 pm

Hi, I am currently on ILR and will be applying for BC in June this year. I'll need to apply for my wife's visa in april. Will there be any difference if I apply it before or after citizenship?

Except if you need to send your documents (especially passport) to the HO for your wife's visa application. You might not see it again for years, but you will need it to apply for citizenship.

Is the op's wife is applying for set(m) then they can use the SCS this avoids documents going to the HO moreover, the op can use the NCS to apply for citizenship (always advised) hence will again get documents back.

Thank you all for responses. My wife is not in UK She'll need to apply from Pakistan. Do I need to send my passport for her visa and What is SCS?

Thanks

You don't need to send your original passport. Get the copy of your passport and ilr page certified from any solicitor and send that along with other documents

Thank you cricinfo for valuable information. In case I apply her visa after my BC as she is studying atm, then for my BC application do I need to supply my marriage certificate? I've recently been married and my wife is not in uk?
Will they ask me why my wife is not in UK if I say I am married and supply marriage certificate? Thank you

No you don't need to provide marriage certificate for your BC application. When you fill up the form, don't put any false information. Just apply for BC with all the required documents (Marriage certificate is not a required document for your application) and then leave that to UKBA to decide if they need any further information.
