Evidence for Irish Citizenship through descent?

Post by greenandland » Mon Feb 18, 2013 8:17 pm

I am in the process of gathering information for Irish Citizenship since finding out that I qualify through descent, however its quite complex and wondering if anyone has ever been though the process of applying for Irish Citizenship through descent or anyone knows how to go about it?

My questions are

1) does anyone have a link of where to apply on line or a link of the form to fill in and download?

2) What evidence is required?

3) I read somewhere I need 3 Irish references? however I don't know anyone personally who lives in Ireland.

I would be very grateful if someone can help

Where are you applying? Why not contact the Irish embassy or consulate closest to you, who will have the information you require.

Based on my knowledge, you do not need to be resident in Ireland to apply for Citizenship based on Decent. Most citizenship requirements like residency requirements are waived in your case.

Contact the Irish embassy in UK and they'll tell you the documents that are needed for application. And it is always a straight forward case.

1. Form available here: http://www.embassyofireland.co.uk/home/ ... x?id=88365

Apply here: http://www.dfa.ie/home/index.aspx?id=88053

2. Guideline notes: http://www.embassyofireland.co.uk/uploa ... 202014.doc

3. No. This is patently incorrect. You do not need any Irish references to apply for FBR (you may be getting confused with Naturalisation).

Also since you can't contact them by phone, here's their email page: http://www.embassyofireland.co.uk/home/ ... x?id=33791, and here's their Twitter account: IrelandEmbGB
